FEATURED GOALIE – JANUARY: DOMINIC AMODEO
Each month, Goalie Army Academy likes to recognize our students for their on-ice and off-ice efforts and contributions to their team and community. For January, an impressive young goalie by the name of Dominic Amodeo, who plays for the Ottawa West Golden Knights Major Atom B team, has earned the title of our Featured Goalie of the Month.
We first met Dominic when we took over the goalie training duties for the West-End Hockey League in order to lead the association’s weekly goalie clinics at the Belltown Dome. Dominic immediately turned the heads of our staff due to his willingness to implement Goalie Army Academy’s R3E System to his game in order to build a great technical foundation based on efficiency.
Unfortunately for Dominic, he is within a birth year with plenty of competition which includes Eamon Charles (now with the Ottawa Sting AA) who we trained for 3 years at the West-End Hockey League goalie clinics and with the Ottawa West Golden Knights, and other Goalie Army Academy students, Carter Walker (Ottawa Sting A), and December’s Featured Goalie of the Month, Nicolas Roy (Ottawa Sting AA).
Thankfully for Dominic, a space opened up for him within the Ottawa West Golden Knights B level when Eamon Charles made the leap to AA.
So far this season, Dominic is ranked 7th in his league in Goals Against Averages, with a GAA of 1.77, 8 Wins, only 3 Losses, and 2 Shut Outs. Not too shabby for a goalie who’s new to competitive hockey with the Golden Knights this season.
In addition to working with his team, Dominic attends our weekly Academy Clinics at the Minto Skating Centre whenever possible in order to continue to work on his in-crease movement, and technical foundation. With his athletic ability, and work ethic, our staff are sure that Dominic will continue to improve his game, and earn his position at a higher level of hockey in years to come.
Please join me in congratulating Dominic for all of his success so far. Good luck during your upcoming playoffs Dominic!!!
